More than 10 Morrell Park residents and City Councilman Brian O’Neill (R-10th dist.) showed up at the Zoning Board of Adjustment last week to oppose a plan to operate a business in a Morrell Avenue home. They went home with a “no decision” because the zoners granted a continuance to applicant Maureen McKeown after her attorney, Joseph Beller, said he needed more time to prepare.
City Councilman Bobby Henon has pledged to cover the cost of the initial phase of the community’s appeal seeking to bar a methadone clinic from opening on the Frankford Avenue commercial corridor, asking that they “send me a bill.”
The Holmesburg Civic Association and some State Road businesses have entered into an agreement with NorthEast Treatment Centers that will allow for a methadone clinic to open in the neighborhood. The agreement follows a recent court victory by NET, which plans to open a clinic at 7520 and 7550 State Road.
