Castor Gardens Wawa robbed for fifth time since October

Armed robbers have targeted the same Northeast convenience store five times since October, with the latest heist occurring early Monday morning, Philadelphia police say.

A masked gunman entered the Wawa at 6460 Bustleton Ave. at about 1:40 a.m. Monday, pointed a pistol at a clerk and demanded money, said Detective John Hughes of Northeast Detectives. The employee surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash to the bandit, who was last seen running westbound through the parking lot and hopping a fence.

There were multiple employees and several patrons in the 24-hour shop at the time, but no injuries were reported, Hughes said.

Based on witness descriptions of the crook and his method, investigators believe that he may be responsible for several prior robberies of the same business. Two men held up the shop on Oct. 1.

On four other occasions since then, a single gunman robbed the shop.

The bandit was described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and thin, with a black mask and a gray hooded sweatshirt with a zipper and an Old Navy logo on the front.

He also wore faded or acid-wash jeans, tan boots and black gloves. He carried a small, black semi-automatic pistol.

Call Northeast Detectives at 215–686–3153 to report information. ••
