The 38th annual Mayfair Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade was held Sunday. Local bands, schools, businesses, dance groups, musicians and Mummers participated in the parade, which traveled south on Frankford Avenue.
Time to strut: Kitty Appicello celebrated her 103rd birthday at her Erdrick Street home in grand Philly style on March 30 — with Mummers. Appicello dances to the Mummers’ sound as she was surrounded by friends and family, including her seventh great-great-grandchild. Appicello moved to the city from upstate Pennsylvania 95 years ago. In loving memory: The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush held a dance festival benefitting a college fund named in memory of Jackie Park, a Rush graduate who was fatally struck by a car in 2012. The dance festival featured works choreographed solely by students. They wrote scripts for a few short monologues that were intertwined with dance performances. Some types of dances included ballet, hip-hop, modern and jazz. PHOTOS BY MARIA POUCHNIKOVA
