American Heritage Federal Credit Union workers donate books

Members and employees of American Heritage Federal Credit Union recently donated more than 4,375 new books to local hospitals, community centers and special care facilities.

In its fifth year, the Books for Kids program allowed members of the credit union to become “book buddies” for a donation of $3, placing a plaque with their name inside each donated book.

The books were then delivered to Busia Orphanage, Blue Bell Mission Kids, St. Mary’s Medical Center, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Hunting Park Boys and Girls Clubs, Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bucks and Grand View Hospital.

A special donation of 3,525 books went to the Reach Out and Read program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms by giving new books to children and educating parents on the importance of reading aloud with their children. American Heritage employees visited the Karabot Center at CHOP to deliver the books and tour the facilities while learning about the impact the program makes on its patients and the community. ••
