The Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce honored Nazareth Hospital, businessman Rodney C. Sandmeyer and Dietz & Watson at its annual Accolades Awards celebration at Brookside Manor at Somerton Springs, in Feasterville.
Residents had every reason not to attend the June 10 meeting of the Somerton Civic Association. It was the group’s final monthly meeting before its annual summer recess. The agenda was pretty light. Rain was falling in buckets.
For Adriano Ciocca, being raised in an Italian household and following his instincts fostered a dream of owning an Italian restaurant. And at 33, Ciocca’s dream essentially has doubled. He now owns two Italian restaurants.
The Somerton Civic Association and state Rep. Brendan Boyle last week recognized a neighborhood military hero who is now back home and serving his fellow citizens on the home front.
Brendan Boyle is quick to say that he has “never been handed anything,” and he thinks his bid for Allyson Schwartz’s soon-to-be-vacated congressional seat will be no different.
