Sierra Club supports Santamoor in Council race

Santamoor

City Council at-large candidate Eryn Santamoor, a Democrat, has been endorsed by the Sierra Club.

Jim Wylie, chairman of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Sierra Club Executive Committee, said, “Eryn has a level of knowledge and experience with the public sector that stands out and represents what we should all expect from our local leaders. She has spent her career working to push the status quo in cities, developing new and exciting programs such as Philly311 – that lead to better outcomes for people and families and transform how government functions. Eryn’s commitment to serving as an environmental advocate in City Council is clearly shown in her plan to build a Green and Sustainable Philadelphia.”

Santamoor was also recently endorsed by Ascend PAC and Philly Set Go.

“I am proud that my vision for Philadelphia has been endorsed by both national and local organizations whose missions are vital to building a better future for our city: supporting emerging leaders and ensuring young people have a voice in city government,” she said. “We will only be successful as Democrats and as a city if we foster our next generation of leaders; and I am honored that Ascend PAC and Philly Set Go have endorsed me as one of those leaders.”

Santamoor, a former deputy city managing director, has previously been endorsed by former Gov. and Mayor Ed Rendell, former Mayor Michael Nutter, Transport Workers Union Local 234 and the 8th Ward Democratic Committee.

Another Democratic at-large candidate, Erika Almirón, has recently been endorsed by Our Revolution, Mijente and the state National Organization for Women.

Previously, she was endorsed by SEIU 32BJ, the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, Temple Association of University Professionals, the Working Families Party, several chapters of the UNITE HERE union, Liberty City LGBTQ Democratic Club, the 1st, 2nd and 9th Wards, Reclaim Philadelphia, 215 People’s Alliance, Neighborhood Networks, Coalition to End Death by Incarceration, AFT CCP 2026, Second Generation PAC and One PA.

“For decades, I have supported worker’s rights, from my time as a server organizing my co-workers to walk off the job for wage theft, to organizing day laborers in our city. I see the need for all workers to be supported by a strong union. I will continue to fight for all workers as a city councilperson,” she said. ••
