    Mondelez closes old Nabisco plant

    The iconic old Nabisco bakery will be closed by early next year, the facility’s current owner, Mondelez International, announced today. Mondelez spokes­wo­man Laurie Guzzinati this afternoon said Mondelez was consolidating its East Coast operations and will invest heavily in facilities in Fair Lawn, N.J., and Richmond, Va. The company said 350 employees will lose their jobs.

    Lackman renovations review re-scheduled for Feb. 5

    City Coun­cil­man Bri­an O’Neill (R-10th dist.) will re­view plans for the renov­a­tion of Lack­man Re­cre­ation Cen­ter at 7 p.m. on Wednes­day, Feb. 5, at the play­ground, 1101 Bart­lett St.  All neigh­bors are wel­come to at­tend and re­view the plans for the pro­ject. The renov­a­tion should be com­pleted no later than the end of the school year in June, the coun­cil­man said in a press re­lease.

    Priest’s accuser dies

    The witness against a 75-year-old Roman Catholic priest accused of molesting a Northeast altar boy died suddenly, the district attorney’s office announced this afternoon.
