    It’s officially autumn. Yesterday was the first full day of the season, and that means local apples are ripe for the picking and ready for eating. Without a doubt, there is a huge difference in taste between a locally picked apple and one that has been in cold storage. The flavor is not apples to apples. Local apples taste like the “homemade” version of what an apple should be. They are the epitome of flavor. Apples are one of the top fruit choices for Americans, and for many other people throughout the world, too. If you can purchase local apples during the next month or so, you are truly in for a treat.
