Ryerss Museum & Library, 7370 Central Ave. (near Cottman Avenue) in Burholme Park, on Saturday hosted a 192nd birthday party for Robert Ryerss.

The day included storytime, a birthday cake, soft pretzels, drinks, vintage games, crafts and toys, displays, a book sale and tours of the cupola that featured a great view of Center City.

Janice Nevins’ name was added to an appreciation plaque for her donations for cupola windows, which cost $8,500 apiece.

The crowd sang Happy Birthday, and many wore shirts that read, “Party Like It’s 1831.”

Volunteers asked guests to sign a petition asking the city to fix the elevator. To sign the petition, go to Change.org and search for “Replace the Elevator at the Ryerss Museum and Library.”

The museum/library is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is plenty of free parking. Admission is free, though donations are appreciated. New volunteers are welcome.
