New project director Shirley Reses has presided over her first meeting of the Rhawnhurst Naturally Occurring Retirement Community and put out a call for volunteers for the agency’s upcoming sixth annual winterization day.
The Glendale Uptown Home, a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Rhawnhurst, recently paid tribute to three residents — Eleanor Lustig and Catherine Raynes, both 102, and Lillian Cohen, 101 — during a National Centenarians Day party. Army Pfc. Mark Wildsmith greets his grandmother, Helene Wildsmith, upon arriving at his Rhawnhurst home on Friday following his deployment in Afghanistan. Wildsmith, 20, a member of the 4th Infantry Division, I-66 Raider Brigade at Fort Carson, Colo., went to Afghanistan last October. Upon his arrival at Philadelphia International Airport, members of the groups A Hero’s Welcome and Warrior’s Watch led a welcoming escort that accompanied the soldier to his home, where he was cheered by family and neighbors.
