“I am honored to be elected as the next chairwoman of the Philadelphia Republican Party,” she said. “As when our country was founded, Philadelphia will once again be at the center of the very future of our nation in 2020. Our great city deserves a Republican Party that competes for votes in every neighborhood.

“After a tough 2019, it is time to regroup and give a voice to the forgotten Philadelphians: overtaxed and overburdened families, parents who are seeking a better education for their children and victims of crime who have fallen prey to the progressive far-left agenda. We must start with the fundamentals to win elections again and be proactive in connecting with voters while making a positive impact on our communities.”

State GOP Chairman Lawrence Tabas added, “We congratulate Martina White. She brings a fresh voice and new perspective to the Philadelphia GOP, where urban areas will be critical to the outcome of the 2020 election cycle. I’m very excited about this new chapter, and I’m confident that, together, we will bring new voters into the fold and keep Pennsylvania red.”

White replaces Mike Meehan, who resigned.

Allegheny County attorney Heather Heidelbaugh last week declared her candidacy for the Republican nomination for state attorney general.

Heidelbaugh is a former member of Allegheny County Council.

U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey and former Sen. Rick Santorum endorsed her for AG.

“I’m proud to endorse Heather Heidelbaugh for attorney general. She shares our values and respects the rule of law. Her decades of legal experience in the courtroom and her passion for fighting for people from all walks of life set her apart in this race,” Toomey said.

Added Santorum: “We need someone as attorney general who actually wants to be attorney general. Heather will be focused on doing justice for you, instead of self-promotion.”

Attorney General Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, is expected to run for governor in 2022.

Heidelbaugh gained national attention a decade ago when she took on an alleged fraudulent voter registration scheme by the left-wing community activist group ACORN. Ultimately, ACORN faced defunding by the federal government. ••
