State Rep. Ed Neilson joined members of the 8th Police District Advisory Council recently to recognize five members of the district as Officers of the Year. Members of the 15th Police District Advisory Council will be electing the organization’s officers during their Dec. 30 meeting at the Mayfair Community Center.

There is a new community relations officer at the 15th Police District, members of the district’s advisory council learned at their Sept. 30 session. Officer Keisha Jacobs, with the department since 1998, is replacing Officer Sharon Krause, who has been the 15th’s CRO for several years and is now the district’s Compstat officer.
Capt. John McCloskey, the 15th Police District commander, said shootings in the district, the city’s largest and busiest, are down 50 percent over last year.
