Attacker stabs man, shoots into home at housing project

An unknown attacker stabbed one man and shot at a house in a Northeast public housing project last Friday afternoon, authorities say.

Philadelphia and Housing Authority police were called to the 5500 block of Hill Creek Drive in the Hill Creek Apartments at about 2:15 p.m. in response to a report of a shooting. They found a man, 38, on the ground bleeding profusely from his left side. He was alert but uncooperative with officers, Philadelphia police said.

Paramedics took him to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical but stable condition with wounds of the head, abdomen and leg.

Police also met a 19-year-old man on the same street who told them he was standing in front of his home when an unknown gunman chased him inside. The attacker began kicking the door from outside as the 19-year-old and his mother fled upstairs. They heard a single gunshot, screamed and told the gunman that police were on the way. They found a bullet hole in the door.

The victims described the suspect as a black man with a black gun, but offered no additional details. ••
