Greater Kensington has been around for 73 years, and its clubhouse has been at 7235 Edmund Sr. in Tacony since 1966. The band won first prize in the 1979 and 1988 Mummers Parades.

Over the years, the band has entertained throughout the United States and abroad, including a 2004 performance in front of a crowd of 280,000 people in the Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong.

The band has been marching every year since 1974 in the Mayfair-Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade. It’s also volunteered to perform at nursing and retirement homes and children’s hospitals, and offers free music lessons to aspiring Mummers.
