The first fatal shooting occurred on March 25 on the 900 block of Sanger St. in Oxford Circle. Patrol cops were called to a rear driveway at about 12:48 p.m. after someone reported a person with a gun and a wounded man. The officers found Basil Ahmad Nahsh Adams, 27, lying in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds.

Adams, of the 900 block of Anchor St., was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:18 p.m. Police said they believe an argument preceded the gunfire, but have not identified a suspect or released a description of the shooter.

Last Sunday, police were called to the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Adams Avenue in front of Friends Hospital at about 5:53 a.m. after someone reported gunshots. The officers found Donte Valentine, 39, of the 400 block of N. Wanamaker St., in the driver’s seat of a 2016 Chrysler 300. He was unresponsive. The vehicle had gunshot damage to the driver’s door and window.

Police said it appeared as if the car and swerved across the Boulevard and crashed into the fence outside the hospital, which is on the border between the 2nd and 15th districts.

Fire paramedics gained access to the wreck and pronounced Valentine dead at the scene at 6:04 p.m. The nature of his injuries was not disclosed. A motive for the shooting is unknown.
