The president of the city firefighters’ union last week confirmed that seven of his members will face some sort of discipline because of their alleged sex involvement with a female paramedic.
Firefighters have been talking about a sex scandal within their department for months, but no word of it came to the public’s attention until last week, when TV reports aired that several Philadelphia Fire Department employees were about to be disciplined.
Fire deaths increased by one-third while fire-related injuries rose by 4 percent in Philadelphia last year, although both tallies remained well below recent historical peaks, according to year-end statistics released by the Philadelphia Fire Department this month.
The Philadelphia Fire Department and International Association of Fire Fighters and Paramedics Local 22 have promised to always be there for the family of Joyce Craig.
