Temple opens lung center at Jeanes

Dr. Andrew Gangemi, a pulmonologist at Jeanes, cuts the ribbon at the new lung center.

The Temple Lung Center last week held a ribbon cutting for a new location at Jeanes Hospital, 7600 Central Ave.

The new location, just to the left of the Jeanes main entrance and featuring plenty of free parking, is geared to patients in the Northeast, Bucks County and Eastern Montgomery County.

“It’s a big win for patients in this area,” said Michael Young, president and CEO of the Temple University Health System.

The location, which opened on March 29, offers an outpatient clinic, bronchoscopy, thoracic surgery and critical care/ICU services. The outpatient clinic will have a focus in asthma/allergy, COPD, advanced lung disease/lung transplantation, pulmonary sleep medicine and lung cancer. Patients will also have access to an array of clinical trials.

Dr. Marc P. Hurowitz, executive director of Jeanes, thanked the Jeanes Auxiliary for 90 years of support and noted that the center is a convenient choice for people who do not want to visit Temple’s main campus on Broad Street.

Dr. Nathaniel Marchetti, professor of thoracic medicine and surgery, said the center features seven rooms and is staffed by highly trained, compassionate and caring physicians.

Other satellite locations are in Phoenixville, Chestnut Hill Hospital and Fort Washington.
