    A medical doctor was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison and a $300,000 fine last week in connection with a $14.3 million Medicare fraud case involving a Northeast-based hospice care service.

    Pot plants seized in Northwood

    A Frankford man had a high-tech garden growing inside his home, but he wasn’t going to win any horticultural awards for it, Philadelphia authorities say. Instead, the healthy crop landed him in jail. On Saturday, police raided Daniel Falu’s home on the 5200 block of Large St. and allegedly found dozens of marijuana plants growing inside. The narcotics investigators also seized about 600 grams of cocaine from the house, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Authorities didn’t say what prompted the investigation.
