Last chance to help the needy

Christmas is just a few days away, and a lot of people in the Northeast are shopping for presents and planning a big meal.

At the same time, though, others are struggling.

The Times has been helping those less fortunate people in our community, thanks to you, our generous readers.

There is still time to contribute to the 75th annual Eleanor Smylie Community Fund, named in memory of our late chairwoman. The outreach program is using money collected so far this holiday season to buy supermarket gift cards for individuals and families.

For those making donations, we’ll publish your names. If you want your donation to remain anonymous, please let us know.

If you would like to request assistance, or if you know of someone who could use help, write a letter to:

Eleanor Smylie Community Fund

130 Twinbridge Drive

Pennsauken, NJ 08110

Include a name and contact information for an agency or person for verification. We must receive letters by Friday, Dec. 22.

Everything about the process will remain anonymous.

If you are able to donate, please send a check to the Eleanor Smylie Community Fund at the address above. Any amount would be appreciated.

Thank you for your consideration. ••
