    Boyle captures primary victory

    State Rep. Brendan Boyle on Tuesday won a surprisingly easy victory in the 13th Congressional District Democratic primary, declaring victory at about 10 p.m. at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 headquarters in the Far Northeast.

    The golden years

    The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 last week honored those who were celebrating their golden anniversaries of union membership with a special luncheon at the FOP’s new facility on Caroline Road in the Northeast. Eighty members with 50 years membership were honored. Among those marking the special anniversary was George McNesby (left), his wife, Judy, and their son, John McNesby, Lodge 5’s president. 

    Gone, but not forgotten

    Danny Boyle’s memory lives on through a scholarship created in his name. The fund has distributed more than a half-million dollars to disadvantaged students.

    Danny Boyle died 23 years ago, but hundreds of families continue to harvest the rewards of the slain police officer’s public service and his ultimate sacrifice.
