Complaining of chronic dirt clouds and fumes outside their homes, neighbors asked the operators of a Torresdale Avenue landscaping materials yard for some relief last Thursday during the monthly meeting of the Upper Holmesburg Civic Association. But on Friday, it appeared to be business as usual at Britton Industries Inc., as a backhoe and trucks of all shapes and sizes continued to kick up dusty debris.
A new business has taken over the property at Torresdale Avenue and Tolbut Street, and neighbors say some zoning requirements have been forgotten.
Danny Savage and Tomas Sanchez weren’t the only challenges confronting Tina Tartaglione in last week’s Democratic primary for her Pennsylvania Senate seat. Tartaglione’s obstacles also included her legendary political family’s past as well as a growing force considered by many as the city’s political future.
