Sixty-three volunteers emerged from winter hibernation to take part in the Friends of Pennypack Park’s first monthly park cleanup of the year on March 22, removing 86 bags of debris from the park, along with large discarded items.
Thirty-six volunteers with the Friends of Pennypack Park netted 43 bags of trash, two bags of recyclable cans and a list of assorted, sometimes strange, debris during the monthly park cleanup event on June 22.
Twenty-five volunteers worked off some Thanksgiving calories during the monthly Friends of Pennypack Park cleanup day on Saturday, Nov. 24. Participants removed 39 bags of debris from the park in the area of Rhawn Street and Lexington Avenue.
Surrounded by an unforgiving landscape of brick and mortar, concrete and asphalt, Pennypack Park presents Northeast Philadelphia with a 1,400-acre oasis of towering shade trees, grassy meadows and shimmering streams.
