Man claims self-defense after shooting three teenagers on SEPTA bus

Three teenagers are in stable condition after a 24-year-old man shot them this morning on the SEPTA Route 58 bus.

Police are investigating a man who shot three teenagers on the SEPTA Route 58 bus at 1 a.m. this morning who claims he was shooting in self-defense.

Officers from the 2nd Police District responded to a call at 1:03 a.m. on Thursday to find the three males with gunshot wounds in their legs outside the bus parked at 7200 Bustleton Ave. Investigators said the teenagers were in a physical altercation with the shooter.

A 16-year-old male was immediately taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left thigh and was placed in stable condition.

Officers placed a tourniquet on a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his right knee before transporting him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

A 15-year-old male was also transported to Einstein with a gunshot wound to his right thigh and one to his right buttocks area. He is also in stable condition.

The shooter was transported to Northeast Detective Division for further investigation, including what led to the altercation. There were three other people on the bus who were taken in as witnesses, police said. The weapon was recovered, police said.
