The public is welcome to watch the Budweiser Clydesdales parade along Frankford Avenue next Wednesday night. The parade is set to begin at 6 p.m. on Aug. 28 outside the newly opened Cottman Beverage, at 7544 Frankford Ave. The Clydesdales will trot south on the avenue and are expected to arrive at Mayfair Beverage, at 6500 Frankford Ave., at 7:45 p.m.
Kathy Polec ended her 22 years of service as a crossing guard at the corner of Stanwood and Ridgeway streets on June 17. Polec and her husband John gained national fame in 1994 when their 16-year-old son Eddie was beaten to death by a gang of thugs from the suburbs on the steps of St. Cecilia Church in Fox Chase.
