He created some of the most memorable and inventive characters during his stint on Saturday Night Live, including Hanukkah Harry, Master Thespian, Annoying Man and one of his most popular, Tommy Flanagan, the Pathological Liar. Yeah! That’s the ticket!
“The main things to remember if you want to become a standup comic is to have lots of confidence in yourself and believe in what you’re doing,” said comic actor and Saturday Night Live alum Chris Kattan, set to appear Thursday to Saturday, Sept. 26-28, at Helium Comedy Club, 2031 Sansom St. in Center City. Of course, talent doesn’t hurt either, which is obvious in Kattan’s case. And for now, after decades of doing television and film, Kattan, 42, is concentrating on showing those talents as he does standup comedy in front of live audiences.
Although Charlie Murphy has appeared in countless films since the late 1980s, toured in many countries, and even gained a name for himself after his appearances on The Dave Chappelle Show, there’s no denying that there are still people out there who think of him only as Eddie Murphy’s older brother.
