Youth drinking in the park is not a victimless crime: members of the Friends of Pennypack Park learned of the dangerous ramifications of that age-old nuisance on May 23 as they carried out their monthly park cleanup.
Fifty-eight volunteers, including folks from AgustaWestland Corp., the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Haverford College and the Community Life Improvement Program, removed 97 bags of litter from Pennypack Park during the Friends of Pennypack Park’s annual Earth Day cleanup on April 25.
The cleanup crew from the Friends of Pennypack Park endured an intermittent rainstorm to round up 29 bags of litter from the park near Frankford and Solly avenues on July 26. Curiously enough for the 21 rain-soaked volunteers, they also found an abandoned rowboat.
Twenty-five volunteers worked off some Thanksgiving calories during the monthly Friends of Pennypack Park cleanup day on Saturday, Nov. 24. Participants removed 39 bags of debris from the park in the area of Rhawn Street and Lexington Avenue.
