A 69-year-old Somerton man was struck by an auto at 6 p.m. Monday as he crossed Cottman Avenue and later died at Aria Health’s Torresdale campus, police said.

In last week’s editions, the Northeast Times reported that efforts are underway to erect a memorial bench to Pennypack Creek drowning victims including Brandon Boyle. In fact, there are at least two simultaneous memorial bench efforts. Boyle’s family and friends began one fundraising campaign via the gofundme.com website. A second campaign to memorialize other Pennypack drowning victims is in the planning stages. ••
