Following his service, he graduated from La Salle College and later the University of Pennsylvania. He spent his professional career of 34 years with the School District of Philadelphia, first as a teacher and then elementary school principal at Disston Elementary School in Tacony.

Hauser married Nancy McKenna and they raised four children in Mayfair.

After retiring from the school district in 1984, he worked for the school administrators’ union and volunteered with the PPSREA, the organization for retired school district employees, serving as a committee chairman and later president of the organization..

Hauser was a longtime volunteer for St. Matthew Parish and the Holy Terrors youth sports organization.

Today, he lives in the Lafayette Redeemer.

At the party, there was music and plenty of food and old photos. State Sen. Jimmy Dillon and the Marine Corps League were on hand, and Gov. Josh Shapiro sent greetings. The crowd sang Happy Birthday, and Hauser had no trouble blowing out the candles. ••
