Police Chief Inspector Tony Boyle, of Bustleton, cheerfully greeted more than 200 supporters on Monday outside Internal Affairs, 7790 Dungan Road, just before entering the building to officially learn his fate.
Boyle, assigned to the narcotics bureau, knew he’d be told he was being suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss for a 2018 physical altercation with a female captain at a North Philadelphia police facility for drug investigations.
Boyle, 67, with 44 years on the job, will fight IA’s findings. His supporters say eyewitnesses will back up his claim.
Among those on hand at Monday’s rally were state Rep. Mike Driscoll, City Councilman Bobby Henon, former Councilman Al Taubenberger and Boyle’s wife, Anne Marie.
The crowd waved American flags, chanted “God Bless the Chief” and held signs such as “Chief Boyle is a great American.” Boyle is a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant.
The police public affairs unit said the investigation determined that Boyle violated departmental policies of Conduct Unbecoming, Neglect of Duty and Failure to Supervise.
Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw made the decision to suspend with intent to dismiss. ••
