A bumbling robber with a pocket knife attempted and failed to hold up a couple of Northeast Philadelphia businesses on Mischief Night, but he ended up with a jar of loose change and small bills for his troubles. Police hope that surveillance video from the two targeted businesses will help them generate leads on the identity of the unknown bandit.
Two armed robbers held up a busy late-night eatery in Mayfair early last Friday. The heist occurred at about 1:45 a.m. at the Red Robin Diner, 6330 Frankford Ave., when two unknown men entered the business, including one with a gun and a bandana over his face. The gunman approached an employee and demanded money, while the other crook served mostly as a lookout, police said.
