Some people never watch foreign films, no matter how good they may be. An English-language adaptation can open a movie to a wider audience, which is precisely the case with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Hugo is one of the rare movies I’d actually recommend seeing in 3-D as opposed to the traditional 2-D version. It has all the elements of a good flick — top-notch acting, a good story, and, most of all, it’s extremely appealing visually.
At one point during Machine Gun Preacher, Sam Childers shows pictures of mutilated, orphaned children in Africa to a banker friend he’s hitting up for a loan. The banker responds that he knows what is going on over there and does not need to see the pictures.
