DJ John McBride

Riverfront North Partnership on rainy Saturday afternoon hosted a Fish Fest at the Frankford Boat Launch, 5501 Tacony St., just south of Dietz & Watson.

Event attendees had the opportunity to learn how to fish, and there was a fishing game just for kids. The young ones could also chalk the ground before the rain fell. Mural Arts Philadelphia and the Tacony LAB Community Art Center worked with kids to paint rubber fish, with the prints transferred onto a T-shirt for them to keep.

The Frankford Garden Club sold plants. Rep. Joe Hohenstein was in attendance and had a table. Julie Slavet, executive director of Tookany-Tacony/Frankford Watershed Partnership, was on hand. There was a food truck, along with representatives from the 15th Police District. Recently retired Bridesburg Recreation Center leader John McBride served as DJ. Other vendors included Turning Points for Children, Cabela’s and the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward program. ••
