Voters who hope to get a last look, or even a first look, at hopefuls for the May 19 municipal primary election may want to head to East Torresdale in the coming weeks.
Neighbors received no new information regarding a proposal to build a new credit union office or the redevelopment of the former Liddonfield Homes housing project.

A proposal to build a new credit union branch on the James D. Morrissey Inc. property dominated the agendas of two civic association meetings in the Northeast last week. Residents in East Torresdale unanimously rejected the plan on Jan. 12, while their neighbors in Upper Holmesburg postponed their Jan. 15 vote indefinitely.
About half of some 70 residential properties in a section of Torresdale have no public sewer service, according to a recent Philadelphia Water Department study. And many, perhaps most of the homeowners have no interest in getting hooked up, despite periodic flooding and sewage back-ups — even in light of a new water department plan to install sewers in the neighborhood.
Voters of Pennsylvania’s 173rd legislative district will have a decision to make on Nov. 4 about who should succeed Rep. Mike McGeehan and represent them in the General Assembly.
