Contractors’ employees this week are finishing the cleanup of a Frankford property they demolished last week. The house at 4712 Worth St. had been listed as “imminently dangerous” by the Department of Licenses and Inspections since after it was damaged in a fire in July 2013. Neighbors had complained the building should be torn down, and a city contractor began that work — by hand — on July 21. The property’s owner, a Florida man, will be billed $34,000.

Contractors who submit permit applications to the Department of Licenses and Inspections will have to submit “tax clearance” forms and show they have insurance. Contractors also must show they have insurance coverage for general liability, workers compensation and automobile liability.
The circumstances of the death of a 22-year-old Port Richmond man last year are under investigation by the Philadelphia Fire Department. His family says the tragedy is the result of negligent paramedics.
