Detective, 7 officers honored for fire rescue

State Rep. Jared Solomon recently honored eight members of the police department for helping to rescue four people from a Lower Mayfair house fire in December.

Solomon, joined by Reps. Pat Gallagher and Joe Hohenstein, presented House citations to seven 15th Police District officers and a detective. Rep. Jason Dawkins also signed the citation.

Sen. Tina Tartaglione presented Senate citations to the eight men.

The fire took place on the morning of Dec. 7 on the block of 6300 Cardiff St. Three adults and an infant were rescued.

The April 3 ceremony took place at the 15th district, 2809 Levick St., a short distance from the fire site.

Detective Nick Halbherr, of Northeast Detectives, was among those honored.

Members of the 15th district who were honored were Police Officers Sean Cahill, Gary Mercado, Nick Travaline, Daniel Oblea, Joseph Nocito, Phillip Riotto and Christopher Toman.

Also in attendance were Inspector Frank Bachmayer, commander of the Northeast Police Division, and Capt. Marques Newsome, commander of the 15th district. ••
