Youth drinking in the park is not a victimless crime: members of the Friends of Pennypack Park learned of the dangerous ramifications of that age-old nuisance on May 23 as they carried out their monthly park cleanup.
The cleanup crew from the Friends of Pennypack Park endured an intermittent rainstorm to round up 29 bags of litter from the park near Frankford and Solly avenues on July 26. Curiously enough for the 21 rain-soaked volunteers, they also found an abandoned rowboat.
The Friends of Pennypack Park cleanup committee wrapped up its 2013 schedule by removing 21 trash bags of debris, plus many large items from the woods in the area of Rhawn Street and Lexington Avenue on Nov. 23.
Thirty-five volunteers donated more than 80 man-hours to beautify some Northeast Philly parkland on Aug. 24 during the monthly cleanup event organized by the Friends of Pennypack Park.
