Boyle thanks PA National Guard troops for protecting Capitol

U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-2nd dist.) on Thursday visited Pennsylvania National Guard troops stationed on Capitol Hill. He presented them with a citation and handed out soft pretzels from the Soft Pretzel Factory.

The troops were stationed on Capitol Hill as part of Operation Protect DC. While there, Boyle presented the troops with a copy of a House floor speech.

In the speech, Boyle said, “I want to recognize the Pennsylvania National Guard for their tremendous work in Operation Protect DC. Following the horrifying events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, I am thankful for the Pennsylvania National Guard activating to Washington, DC quickly to ensure the presidential inauguration and transfer of power could be carried out peacefully.  Leaving their families and careers in Pennsylvania, these men and women stood in the cold and rain and slept on floors to selflessly protect their fellow Americans. During this challenging time, it is inspiring to witness so many National Guard Service men and women choose to help their fellow Americans.”

Gov. Tom Wolf activated 2,400 soldiers and airmen in support of D.C.’s preparation for the 59th Presidential Inauguration. ••
