Anne Frank School stumps for votes to vie for computers

The faculty and staff at Anne Frank Elementary School are hoping Northeast residents will help the Bowler Street school get $10,000 to buy some new classroom computers.

They’re not asking for cash, just an online recommendation. Just go to Pepsico’s Web site — www.refresheverything.com/annefrank — to vote for the school, said school counselor Mike Tauber. Once signed up on the site, a process that takes only a few minutes, anyone can vote for Anne Frank’s project once a day all through December.

Anne Frank needs new computers because the equipment now in use is old and outdated, Tauber said in an e-mail to the Northeast Times.

In 2010, Pepsi set aside $20 million the soft drink maker would have spent on Super Bowl advertising to support community projects. The company will spend the same amount this year. People with projects apply online and several are chosen randomly to be featured each month. Each of the top 15 vote-getters will be awarded $10,000 this month. The same goes for applicants for $5,000, $25,000 and $50,000 grants. ••
