A happy birthday to a great animal advocate from her friends

Jeannie Dalrymple is a great person.

This isn’t an opinion. It’s a fact. You’ll never find a person more giving or caring than Jeannie.

She loves people and will do anything to help them, but her true passion is animals.

You can tell what kind of person Jeannie is by the way she treats her cats. She is beyond kind with them, and has always gone out of her way to make sure her cats have everything they need. Anyone who is lucky enough to be Facebook friends with her knows that Jeannie’s cats are the envy of the feline world.

Today is a special day, it’s Jeannie’s birthday. And while she should be celebrated every day, today is a great day for people to let her know exactly how much she means to them.

This plan was concocted by her longtime Friend Karen Wellen. The two bonded over a love of cats. Wellen’s the mother of the world famous Scarlett, the hero cat who saved her kittens from a terrible fire. The two became friends on Scarlett’s page and have been close ever since.

Wellen decided that it would be a great idea for Jeannie’s friends to let her know how important she is to them. Jeannie recently announced on her Facebook page that she’s very sick, so now is the perfect time to tell Jeannie just how special she is.

Here’s what her friends had to say.

Dear Jeannie:

I wish I could understand why. And I wish I could change things. You have been an incredible presence in my life for over 25 years, dear lady! And to think it all started with when you sent me those adorable photos and videos of Newman!

Even though we’ve never met in person, our friendship has  been strong and so meaningful to me. It has been a privilege to know you. We could talk and giggle like teenagers!  And you taught me that pineapple is never an option when dealing with pizza! By the way—you know how many pizza places are in NYC. Well, I NEVER walk past any of them without thinking of you! And never will!

I’ve always been impressed by your special knack of bringing people together and seeing the best in them. Your love and compassion for all creatures on this planet just radiates from your soul. It’s why you’re so loved by so many. I hope that this love helps carry you through your darkest days. You are truly a force for joy in this world!  And always will be.

I can’t help but hurt for the pain you have been going through—both physically and emotionally. You don’t deserve this! But I know your absolute faith has guided you and given you and your family strength.

I love you. No matter where you are, you’ll always be in my heart. And your beautiful bright blue eyes will always light the way like beacons.

Karen Wellen

Dear Jeannie:

I first met Jeannie in Long Island through our church school. Her brother Gordon and I were in the same class and she and my younger sister Wendy also shared a classroom together. Our parents also knew each other. I had no idea at that time how much Jeannie admired the close relationship my little sister and I had until years later when Jeannie and I found each other again through FB and that was one of the first things she shared with me. Jeannie and I immediately started calling each other, catching up on lost time by filling in the blanks, and cheering each other on during those “rough spots” in our lives. We found that we shared many personal similarities, including our love for our “furbabies.” We spent hours talking about our cats and exchanging pictures. We were drawn even closer together when we rallied around poor Seymour when he needed surgery and both made it a point to make sure that he got it. Although our politics were polar opposites, we remained friends and never lost sight of our love for each other. When Jeannie told me about her diagnosis, I, just like so many of her other supporters, tried to lift her spirits as best I could, thinking and telling her that there had to be “something” out there to make her whole again, and we both wanted to desperately believe that…. Seeing Jeannie’s strength, courage, and faith in God while traveling this road, watching her remain positive during the many disappointments while continuing to maintain her compassion for others has been something I don’t think many could do, and I will never stop praying for her as she transitions to whatever lies ahead. I whole-heartedly believe that God will remain by Jeannie’s side and that her dad will be waiting to greet her with open arms when they are reunited again.

Dear Jeannie:

I wish I had a magic wand to sweep over you and change all that you are going through.

I’ve made a lot of friends on Facebook but your friendship means so much more than a Facebook friend. I can’t explain it. I feel as though every text we shared was more like a visit with a friend who made me happy. Whenever I see your pretty, happy face show up it was like getting a huge bouquet of beautiful flowers. You are that kind of person and everyone loves you for that.

I just can’t say goodbye so I will say, “See you on the other side, Sweetie.”

Holding you in my heart forever,

Priscilla Engelhard Wille

Dear Jeannie:

I usually don’t look at the news feed on FB – I go my Friends list and

check in on people from there. You’re one of the ones I check every day.

Don’t always post, or even leave an emoji for something somebody else

posted… seeing if there’s any news, good or bad… and maybe see

another photo of your joyous, smiling face. Or one of your cats, that’s

almost as good.

Know that you are, and will continue to be, loved.

Oliver

Dearest Jeannie,

Know that I am thinking of you every day. You have my prayers and best wishes and are forever in my mind.

I feel blessed to have known you and call you my friend. I so admire the warm, funny, genuine person you are.

My life will forever be better because you’ve been part of it.

You are such an incredible gift to the world. Know that you have touched so many people.

Your strength is admirable and radiates outward and you remind me daily of how to appreciate the present moment.. Thank you for teaching me how to face challenges with bravery and beauty.

Thank you for your friendship and for being the one and only you. I will never forget you.

In the quiet moments of my day, I keep you in my thoughts and in my heart.

I’ve been beyond lucky to know you.

I wish I could hug you now. I love you.

Always,

Cindy Richards
