Benefit postponed for family of Officer Mendez

A benefit planned for Monday night at the FOP for the family of slain Police Officer Richard Mendez has been postponed.

Mendez, 50, an officer for 22 years, was shot to death on Oct. 12 after he saw several people breaking into a car in a Philadelphia International Airport garage. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at noon at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul (1723 Race St.).
