Youth drinking in the park is not a victimless crime: members of the Friends of Pennypack Park learned of the dangerous ramifications of that age-old nuisance on May 23 as they carried out their monthly park cleanup.
Fifty-eight volunteers, including folks from AgustaWestland Corp., the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Haverford College and the Community Life Improvement Program, removed 97 bags of litter from Pennypack Park during the Friends of Pennypack Park’s annual Earth Day cleanup on April 25.
Forty-seven volunteers, including 13 students representing four high schools, teamed with the Friends of Pennypack Park to collect 54 bags of litter from the park on March 28 in the FOPP’s first monthly cleanup event of the year.
Community volunteers, including families from Father Judge, St. Hubert’s and Central high schools, Holy Family University students and parishioners from St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic and St. David’s Lutheran churches, joined the Friends of Pennypack Park for the group’s monthly cleanup event on Oct. 25.
Sixty-three volunteers emerged from winter hibernation to take part in the Friends of Pennypack Park’s first monthly park cleanup of the year on March 22, removing 86 bags of debris from the park, along with large discarded items.
