Former Channel 3 news personality Pat Ciarrocchi, a St. Hubert board member, was the emcee.

The Rev. Patrick Welsh, pastor at St. Matthew, offered a prayer.

Lizanne Pando, St. Hubert president, thanked her board, the Office of Catholic Education and the Connelly Foundation for helping to transform a former dilapidated space into a bright, open area.

St. Hubert principal Gina MacKenzie was in attendance, along with former principals Joanne Walls (also a former president) and Gerry Laskowski.

Others on hand included Fran Burns, executive vice president of the Connelly Foundation; Councilman Mike Driscoll and his chief of staff, Tom Forkin; and Braden Bonner, St. Hubert board chairman.

Bonner, the board chairman, said the center opens, not only a door, but “a world of possibilities.”

“You can grow your God-given talents without limits,” he said. ••
