The 8th Police District has a new weapon to combat summertime revelers in the area’s parks, schoolyards and cramped alleyways.
State Sen. Mike Stack has requested that Gov. Tom Corbett allocate funding from the state’s 2014 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program toward the former site of the Liddonfield Homes.
The Upper Holmesburg Civic Association may join the effort to restrict the proliferation of digital billboards and their conventional counterparts, static billboards, throughout the city. The group may also take a stand against a proposal to post more advertising on the city’s unused public school buildings.
State Rep. Ed Neilson joined members of the 8th Police District Advisory Council recently to recognize five members of the district as Officers of the Year. The honorees were (front, from left) Rosario Capaccio of 3-Squad, James Boccalupo of 1-Squad, Richard Greger of 2-Squad, Mark Mazzoni of 5-Squad and Dan Richardson of 5-Squad. According to Ditchkofsky, the district commander, the officers were selected for their “consistent service” to the district, their excellent attendance record and teamwork.
The 8th Police District Advisory Council recognized Daniel Richardson and Mark Mazzoni as Officers of the Month for October during the council’s monthly meeting on Dec. 7.
