District Attorney Seth Williams led a contingent of city prosecutors who joined police officers and Northeast community leaders in a Ride for Peace on Saturday morning. The bicycle tour highlighted the 2nd Police District Advisory Council’s annual Community Day at Target, Bustleton and Bleigh avenues. The cyclists rode 12 miles through portions of Castor Gardens, Oxford Circle, Summerdale, Crescentville and Lawndale with an escort of police vehicles in an effort to promote healthy, nonviolent activities. The route passed several locations of recent gun violence in the 2nd Police District. Other participants included Capt. Frank Palumbo, commander of the 2nd district; and Lynn and Larry Genetti, the chairwoman and treasurer of the 2nd PDAC.
Members of the Lawncrest Community Association recently heard from 2nd Police District officials and a representative of Experience Corps, an affiliate of AARP. The meeting took place on Aug. 19 at the Philadelphia Protestant Home.
Members of the 2nd Police District Advisory Council honored Baldomiro Soares as the district’s February Officer of the Month during their April 8 meeting at the Philadelphia Protestant Home on Tabor Avenue.
Kevin Doerr and Sean King had a busy December. The 2nd Police District officers made arrests in a couple of shootings and busted two people now charged in connection with a string of burglaries. Officers Stephen Nagy and Ronald Cain quickly got hold of two suspects who had robbed a man at a Castor Avenue bus stop.
