NE civic associations will soon be back in session

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer as well as the end of summer break for many Northeast Philadelphia civic associations that will resume their monthly public meetings in September. The Northeast Times will strive to report on as many of these meetings as possible. But residents are also welcome to attend these sessions to find out what’s happening in their neighborhoods.

Challenge accepted

The staff at VCA Knightswood Animal Hospital, 12121 Knights Road, took part in the ice bucket challenge on Saturday afternoon. Money raised will be donated to the ALS Association, and the local animal hospital has nominated other VCA hospitals to take the ice bucket challenge.

Rhawn Street to be closed for repairs Thursday, Friday

Rhawn Street from Bustleton Avenue to Large Street will be closed from 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, to noon on Friday, Aug. 29, for street restoration, said Streets Commissioner David J. Perri.
