Celebrating the community: The Mayfair May Fair took place on Saturday, May 16, on Frankford Avenue. The festival included sand art stations,  balloon making, live music, food and games. 


Tompkins VIST Bank and Rotary Club donate to Fox Chase Elementary

A generous donation: Tompkins VIST Bank and the Rotary Club of Northeast Sunrisers last week donated $1,000 to Fox Chase Elementary School for books for the school library. The donation was made during a Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce business card exchange at VIST, at 8000 Verree Road (at Rhawn Street) in Fox Chase. ••


Hamels Foundation donates $5K to St. Jerome School

The St. Jerome School Advancement Board announced on May 12 that the Hamels Foundation has awarded a $5,000 Partners in Education Grant to the school for the second consecutive year. The grant will support the purchase of STEM engineering sets such as Lego and K’nex Education kits.

Philly’s Finest win bronze medal

The dream team: Philly’s Finest, the Philadelphia Police Department ice hockey team, recently came home with the bronze medal after competing in the Can/Am Hockey Tournament in Lake Placid, New York. The team captain is Mike Carr. The assistant captain is Curt Macy. Team members are Matt Palouian, Matt Nodiff, Marty Klepac, Donnie Masterson, Sean King, Greg Watkins, Frank Roesner, Pat Gallagher, Mike Sidebothem, Mike Smith and Sean Knowles. ull;•
