Ryan student-athletes sign letters of intent

Three Archbishop Ryan High School students recently signed letters of intent to play college sports. (From left) Cat Hammer will play softball for West Chester University. Bob Romano will play baseball at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Nikki Michalowski will play softball for Hofstra University in New York. 


Special concerts will make it a rock ‘n’ roll Christmas

A special concert of rock ’n’ roll Christmas songs will be presented this Saturday and Sunday at Settlement Music School, 3745 Clarendon Ave.

8th District names officers of the year

State Rep. Ed Neilson joined members of the 8th Police District Advisory Council recently to recognize five members of the district as Officers of the Year. The honorees were (front, from left) Rosario Capaccio of 3-Squad, James Boccalupo of 1-Squad, Richard Greger of 2-Squad, Mark Mazzoni of 5-Squad and Dan Richardson of 5-Squad. Also pictured are (back, from left) Police Chaplain Nancy Waidel, Police Chaplain Bill Parks, Neilson, Capt. Len Ditchkofsky and 8th PDAC Chairman Harry Sonntag. According to Ditchkofsky, the district commander, the officers were selected for their “consistent service” to the district, their excellent attendance record and teamwork.
