Angel Brandan, who has been the crossing guard on the corner of Penn and Unity streets in Frankford for 27 years, celebrated her last day on the job last Thursday. Family and community members commemorated her last day with cake and balloons.

A group of Abraham Lincoln High School students published and sold an activity book that benefited the Gift of Life Family House, which helps people in Philadelphia whose family members are receiving transplants. The students, under the guidance of teacher Faith Horne, donated $250 to the charity. Members of the Lincoln LifeSavers include Markeem Bailey, Joseph Boibiboi, Jordan Colbert, Miguel Nieves, Wasim Mahmoud, Patrick Nally, Nazed Munoz, Michael Taylor, Pershue Butler, Cindy Zhao, Alexis Dunn, Molly Thompson, Kelly Cao and mascots Rosie and Erwin.
Santino Stagliano, a 10-year-old from South Philadelphia, recently donated $2,500 to The Center for Autism, 2801 Grant Ave.
