Cathedral welcomes pope with banner

The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul unveil a large welcome banner at the main entrance on July 29 in anticipation of the visit of Pope Francis to Philadelphia. The banner unveiling is one of a series of activities that will be hosted at the cathedral in celebration of the World Meeting of Families and the papal visit.

Roland Williams’ next nature history walk in Pennypack Park will be held on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. Participants will meet in the lower parking lot adjoining the park’s Rhawn Street entrance. In last week’s editions, the Northeast Times reported the date incorrectly. Although the monthly walks are mostly held on the third Sunday of the month, the August walk will be on the fourth Sunday. For information, call 215-934-PARK and leave a message. ••
