Nearly 456,000 older homeowners, renters and people with disabilities across Pennsylvania are being issued rebates totaling $214 million through the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. Distributions began on July 1, but it’s not too late to apply. The deadline has been extended through Dec. 31. Rebates will be distributed as claims are approved throughout the year.
100 years young: State Sen. John Sabatina Jr. (D-5th dist.) presented Esther Lyons with a citation celebrating her 100th birthday. Lyons, who lives on the 2700 block of Winchester Ave. and is a member of the St. Jerome senior citizen club, celebrated her big day on Monday, July 13. A party was held in her honor at Georgine’s, in Bristol.

The Philly 4th of July Jam took place on Saturday starring The Roots with special guests Miguel and Jennifer Nettles. They performed on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, which was followed by fireworks over the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
