Streets Dept. announces leaf collection dates in NE

The Streets Department’s Leaf and Recycling Program will begin on Monday, Nov. 10, and will run through Friday, Dec. 19. 

Coats will be donated to needy children

Truckloads of new winter coats that will be given to needy area children arrived at the YMCA on Knights Road Monday morning. 

The power of reading

St. Christopher Elementary School in Somerton last week hosted It’s Book Time with Ronald McDonald. The program was designed to inspire elementary and preschool children to read for fun and to respect and value books. The show encouraged kids in pre-kindergarten to fourth grade to set aside time to read.

Frankford NAC approves pizza shop sign

Members of the Frankford Neighborhood Advisory Committee voted to not oppose a pizza shop’s application for a zoning variance that would allow an illuminated sign at Torresdale Avenue and Anchor Street.
