Donations needed for community fund

The Northeast Times is kicking off its 66th annual Eleanor Smylie Community Fund charitable effort.Since originating in 1949, the fund has helped thousands of local families during the Christmas season.The fund matches families in need with community members who can offer help. All money collected is used to buy gift cards to provide holiday dinners to those who are struggling to make ends meet.

Civic group to feed the needy


Torresdale Library educates vets about benefits

Torresdale Library held a Veterans Day program on Monday. Local veterans met with Joseph Buckley, service officer for the state Veterans of Foreign Wars, to learn about benefits from the Veterans Affairs. 


Supreme Court to hear arguments in Lynn appeal

State Supreme Court justices will hear oral arguments in the case of Monsignor William Lynn in Harrisburg on Nov. 18, according to court records.

Klein JCC salutes local veterans

The Klein JCC held a ceremony last Wednesday, Nov. 5, in honor of veterans. A World War II veteran, Arthur Rubinstein, discussed his experience in the military. The audience saluted the speaker and the flag during a flag-folding demonstration.
